Then as life would have it, you grow up. Before you know it, you can't possible drink a soda without all this noise running through your head...so you give up and think if all that sugar is so bad for you then I'll just switch to diet soda!
That's when Dad throws a curve ball. Several years ago (and it's been a long time) he saw me drinking a diet soda...oh no, he went even crazier, apparently that was even WORSE! He said 'if you are going to drink a soda then at least drink the real thing...'. WHAT?! SERIOUSLY?! Would you make up your mind?! He went on to say that the artificial sweeteners in diet drinks are absolutely devastating to the body and even though regular soda is not good for you, your body can at least recognize real sugar and process it vs. a chemical!
Oh man, he was right....but the artificial sweetener issue is for another day. So, what is one to do? I hate to admit I'm a quitter, but... I'm a quitter, and I'm OK with that, because in this case quitting has profound health benefits! So don't be afraid to be a quitter, and this is proof that all the things we tell our children over and over again will eventually sink in someday...someday!
